Drum Lessons FAQs in Gretna

Will drum lessons be too loud for our house or bother the neighbors?
This is the #1 concern we hear, and it's a fair one. The good news: you don't need a full acoustic kit at home to start, or maybe ever. A practice pad handles the first stretch of lessons, and an electronic kit with headphones lets a student practice at any hour without anyone else hearing a thing — while still building the exact same timing, coordination, and reading skills. Lessons themselves happen on real kits in our studio, so your home setup can be as quiet as you need it to be.
What age can my child start drum lessons?
Most kids are ready around 6 to 7, once they've got the focus, coordination, and counting skills structured lessons need. Younger kids — 4 to 5 — can absolutely start on rhythm fundamentals with a practice pad even if a full lesson isn't there yet. Teens and adults can start at any age with zero disadvantage.
Should we get an electronic kit or an acoustic kit?
For most beginners, especially anyone starting around 7 or older, an electronic kit is the easier first step — quiet practice with headphones, less space, and most include a built-in metronome and training features. A scaled-down junior acoustic kit works fine too if space and noise aren't a concern. Either way, you don't need to decide before lesson one — we'll help you figure out what's realistic for your house.
Do we need a drum kit at home at all?
If you already have a drum pad, an e-kit, or an acoustic kit — that's all you need to get started. If you haven't bought anything yet, no worries. After the first few sessions we'll help you find the right setup for your budget, space, and noise tolerance. We're always here to help. (We get asked this a lot. Like, a lot a lot.)
What if we need to miss a session?
Sessions are prepaid in monthly packages. We build a 5th-week buffer into every month so life can happen without you falling behind.
How much does it cost?
Sessions are billed in 30-minute increments and sold in prepaid monthly packages. The total varies depending on how many students you're enrolling and how many instruments you want to add. Fill out the form and we'll walk you through all the options — no pressure, no surprises.
